Exploded Axonometric - Highlighting the bent steel tubes

L.A. MUSEUM

CONCEPT DESIGN

Located on a steep hill along Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, the proposed museum takes advantage of the natural slope to conceal most of the building below the horizon line, thus creating an unobtrusive street presence to one side and open views to the other. The museum is criss-crossed by a series of large, bent steel tubes. The steel tubes play multiple roles--they perform the functional duty of supporting the concrete slabs, while also defining the spatial boundaries of the galleries and creating a unique experience for visitors circulating through them from one level to the next.
