DOORKNOB

Dimensions: 5.5 × 5.5 × h 6 cm

Originally developed for our Rathnelly House renovation, Studio VAARO’s doorknob was designed to evoke monolithic unity, with door and knob seemingly carved from a single material. Available in solid oak and solid bronze, it is grounded in elemental simplicity, material integrity, and craft.

In the wood edition, the knob is turned from a single block of oak and can be stained to match a natural millwork door, leaving grain and texture visible for tactile depth.

The bronze edition offers a more robust interpretation of the warmly grained wood version. Cast in a single piece, with a finish that deepens and patinates over time, it complements both wood and metal doors.

Natural variation in the materials ensures each piece is subtly unique in tone and texture, creating a tactile experience that engages both hand and eye.

The knob is surface-mounted and does not include a turning mechanism. It suits decorative applications, passage doors, and—when paired with a latch or bolt—privacy doors and exterior doors.

Here, photographed by fine art photographer Ljubodrag Andric, the knobs are presented as objects in their own right. The images focus on form and texture, intentionally removing references to scale or orientation—inviting a more abstract, meditative reading of the design.
